The Strategic Case for a Permanent Sanctuary
Since I formally launched the Greenwich Peninsula Islamic Centre in June 2025, I have managed the centre's operations within shared and leased facilities. While these spaces have functioned adequately as a temporary measure, relying indefinitely on third-party bookings, estate administrators, and shared infrastructure leaves the organisation's long-term future vulnerable to external decisions.
I am currently executing the final stages of transitioning GPIC into a fully registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). As this legal and governance framework solidifies, the physical infrastructure must follow suit. I am now actively seeking to acquire a permanent property or secure a dedicated commercial lease directly within the Greenwich Peninsula. Securing a permanent venue is a strategic necessity to guarantee uninterrupted prayer, educational programmes, and administration, completely free from the constraints and operational limits of external landlords.
To execute this property acquisition, substantial capital is required. I cannot finalise a lease or purchase agreement without the direct, structured financial backing of the congregation. The establishment of this dedicated capital fund is the mandatory next step in securing the centre's independence.
